The Manu National Park has an area of 1,716,295.22 ha. and is one of the biggest protected areas in South America. In Peru the park is the third largest protected area and is also known as the most biologically diverse worldwide. UNESCO has recognised it as a Biosphere Reserve. Moreover, the park forms part of the Vilcabamba-Amboro Binational Conservation Corridor in Peru and Bolivia.
